How much does a laundromat earn in Belgium?

An honest look at the revenue, costs and profit margin of an average Belgian self-service laundromat in 2026.

laundromat entrepreneurship Belgium

TL;DR: an average Belgian self-service laundromat with 6-10 washing machines and 4-8 dryers turns over roughly €45,000 to €80,000 a year, depending on location. After fixed costs, the owner keeps 25-40% net.

This is one of the most common questions when someone is considering opening a laundromat. Let’s run the numbers.

The real figures of Belgian laundromats

From conversations with several Belgian operators in 2025-2026, the following ballpark figures emerge:

  • Small neighbourhood laundromat (6 machines, 4 dryers, unattended): €30,000-€60,000 gross/year
  • Average city laundromat (10 machines, 5 dryers, good location): €40,000-€72,000 gross/year
  • Premium laundromat (12+ machines, ironer, coffee corner, busy location): €65,000-€120,000 gross/year

The costs

Fixed costs for a typical laundromat (per month):

  • Rent or mortgage on the premises: €1,000 - €2,500
  • Energy (water, gas, electricity): roughly 10% - 20% of revenue
  • Machine maintenance: €100 - €1,000, strongly depending on the age of the installation
  • Insurance, accountant, municipal taxes: €200 - €400
  • Internet, telephony, till system: €100 - €500
  • Detergent and consumables: €150 - €400

On a yearly basis: between €21,600 and €75,600 in fixed costs.

The profit

For an average city laundromat with €54,000 in revenue and €32,000 in fixed costs, roughly €22,000 is left for the owner, before corporate tax.

Important: this is profit without counting your own time. Many operators do the maintenance, cleaning and rounds themselves, which makes an owner’s actual “hourly wage” lower than the figures suggest.

How to turn these figures into real figures

The figures above are averages from anonymous conversations. What you really need for your own laundromat: a till system that tracks revenue and occupancy per machine, per day, per hour. Then you see not only whether your laundromat is profitable, but also which specific machines are, and which ones underperform.

That insight is built into Wassalon-kassa: from €79/month you can follow every euro down to the machine and the hour.
